A Devotional…

Read II Samuel chapters 1 and 2th-2

//  Scripture:  II Sam 1:17

Then David composed a funeral song for Saul and Jonathan.

//  Observation:

Saul had caused much trouble for David, but when he died, David composed a song in memory of the King and his son.  David had every reason to hate Saul, but he chose not to.  Instead he chose to look at the good Saul had done and to ignore the times when Saul attacked him.  It takes courage to lay aside hatred and hurt and to respect the positive side of another person, especially an enemy.

//  Application:

How well do you lay aside hatred of another person, even and enemy and see the good in them?

How about someone who has hurt you…can you do it then?

We would love to discuss your answers, leave us a comment.

//  Prayer:

Lord this is so hard for me to do, but I know Your Word tells me to love my enemies.  Teach me to have a heart change and see the good in all people, even the ones that hurt me. I want a strong courage like this that can only come from You Lord.  Teach me Your Ways Lord, not my own.  In Jesus Precious and Holy Name I pray.  Amen.
